They Lied To Us...

Happy Saturday,

I used to think I was broken.

I did everything the fitness world told me to do — cut calories, added cardio, ate every 3 hours like it was gospel. And sure, sometimes the weight came off… but it never lasted. The second life got busy or I missed a workout? Back to square one.

Sound familiar?

Maybe you're doing all the right things — but the scale won't budge. Or it drops for a bit, then stops. Or you feel like the only way to stay lean is to suffer constantly.

If that’s you, I’ve got news:

It’s not your fault. But it is your system.

This is Part 1 of a 3-part series I’m calling The LeanOS Series (the OS stands for Operating System) — breaking down what actually works when it comes to fat loss, nutrition, and training, especially for guys over 35 who’ve been spinning their wheels for years.

Today, we start with some myth-busting.

The Fat Loss Lies You’ve Been Sold

Let’s clear the air:

  • It’s not your metabolism. Studies have proven most people's metabolism doesn't slow until they're in their 70's!
  • You don’t need to suffer. Restriction and misery are not the price of entry.
  • You don’t need 6 meals, 2 hours of cardio, or a 1200-calorie plan. Those things might work short-term — but they’re not built to last.

So why are so many guys stuck?

Here’s Why Most Guys Fail (Especially Over 35)

After coaching many men, I see the same patterns over and over:

  • All-or-nothing thinking. You're either perfect or you're off the rails.
  • Relying on motivation. Which is great when it's there... but gone by Thursday.
  • Eating ultra-processed foods. They hijack hunger signals, making it almost impossible to feel full.
  • Chasing fast weight loss instead of sustainable fat loss + strength. You lose 15 lbs, but it’s mostly water and muscle — and it never stays off.

The real fix? It’s not more willpower. It’s not the next diet trend.
It’s a system that makes staying lean feel automatic.

Introducing: The LeanOS Framework

Think of it as your operating system for getting lean and staying that way.

  1. Simple, smart nutrition
  2. Efficient strength training
  3. Lifestyle & mental models/systems that make it stick

This is the backbone of everything I teach — not just for short-term fat loss, but long-term change that doesn’t wreck your lifestyle.

And don’t worry: we’re going to break each piece down together over the next few weeks.

Coming Up Next…

Now that we’ve cleared the BS, next Saturday I’ll show you exactly how to eat to lose fatwithout starving yourself, counting every calorie, or giving up foods you enjoy.

It’s simpler than you think.

Until then, if you’re feeling stuck — just know you’re not broken. You’ve just never been taught how to do this in a way that works for real life.

Eddy

P.S. If a buddy keeps asking “what diet are you doing?” — forward this to them. Let's help more guys stop guessing and start building something that lasts.

Morning, If you’ve followed me for any amount of time, you’ve probably picked up on something: I’m not the 30-day shred guy. I’m not the 6-week weight loss challenge guy. And I’m definitely not the guy handing out 1,200-calorie meal plans like candy. In fact, I’m anti-diet and anti-challenge — and today I want to explain why. Diets Don’t Work — Long Term They can work short term. That’s why people keep doing them. You drop 8–10 pounds in a month, maybe even more if you white-knuckle your way...

For a long time, I believed something was broken in me. I thought I was just meant to be fat — like I got dealt a bad genetic hand and that was it. I tried everything: diets, pills, cardio until my knees screamed. And when nothing worked, the only thing left was guilt. Then in 2002, everything changed. I lost 127 pounds in 6 months — but not because I found some magic diet. It’s because I finally learned the truth. And if you’ve ever felt stuck like I did, maybe these truths will help set you...
